Kishu Bincho-tan charcoal is made by selecting trees of the Ubagashi species, which grow naturally along the coast of the southern part of the Kii Peninsula, that are 30 to 40 years old. It is then fired for approximately 500 hours using traditional techniques, from the procurement of the raw wood.

- Product Description - This product can be used as is for interior decoration, as an ornament, or as an objet d'art.
If using for water purification or cooking rice, please thoroughly wash with a scouring pad (never use detergent) before use, and then boil in a pot for about 5-10 minutes.
When using for water purification, use one stick per 500cc to 1 liter of water. Wash with water once a week (never use detergent), and boil for about 5 minutes every two weeks.
After that, please air dry it in a well-ventilated place. Three months is the recommended replacement interval.
Even after 3 months of use, it can be used for a long time as an interior decoration or for deodorizing purposes.
